The Youth Choir of Central Oregon (YCCO) is a community-based choral program that provides advanced vocal experiences for talented first grade through twelfth grade students with unchanged singing voices in three choirs, Singers’ School, Debut Choir and Premiere Choir.
The major goal of the YCCO is to provide an opportunity for musical expression and personal development in a supportive and joyful environment. Our intent is to supplement the musical training offered in our area’s school music programs and to make the YCCO experience accessible to young people throughout Central Oregon.
The choir fosters the life-long learning and enjoyment of music. Students study music reading skills in order to improve choir performance and personal growth. YCCO performs a variety of choral music appropriate for treble voice in the tradition of American and European composers, both secular and sacred.
The Debut and Premiere choirs perform in public concerts during the year. The Premiere Choir recently traveled to Hawaii to attend the Pacific Rim Children’s Chorus Festival under the direction of Master Conductor Henry Leck.
YCCO is a not-for-profit organization with a current enrollment of more than 125 youth in two choirs and one early training program. Each group represents a different level of vocal ability. YCCO members range from first grade through twelfth grade and come from Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties.
YCCO is a music performance and education program for children and youth, emphasizing the development of musical skills and understanding.
